The Giro d’Inst

GIRO Inst 2014 015thumbBelfast City Centre got a taste of the week ahead as the Royal Belfast Academical Institution bade a fond farewell to Year 14 today. To mark an end to their time at Inst the boys celebrated with their own unique take on the upcoming cycle race which will bring global attention to the city. Under the somewhat borrowed title ‘Giro d’Inst’ the Upper 6th students cycled into school wearing the iconic Inst black and yellow colours, accentuated by touches of pink, before enjoying their leavers’ breakfast. 

 

Inst Win Medallion Shield

pic3thumbCongratulations to the RBAI Medallion team who have enjoyed a very successful season culminating in a fitting 12-10 win against Ballymena Academy. The team, captained by out half Michael Lowry and coached by Mr Monteith and Mr McMullan, along with staff have all demonstrated exemplary skill and determination throughout the campaign.

 

RBAI Spring Concert 2014

RBAI Spring Concert 2014thumbThis year’s Spring Concert promises a higher than ever standard of performance.

The first half will feature a colourful array of items including Ravel’s famous “Bolero”, choral works by Britten and Brahms, and the ever-popular Jazz Band.

In the second half, the Choir and Orchestra will present “Magical Mystery Tour”  -  a psychedelic odyssey through the wonderful music of The Beatles.

Inst Celebrates Two Centuries of Education

Mr McKinstry and Miss Williamson look on as Mrs Gowdy officially opens the new entrance of the Soane buildingThe Founders' Day 2014 celebrations which marked two centuries since the first pupil entered the iconic Soane portals were a huge success enjoyed by the School community and shared with the public this weekend. Two days of celebrations began with a Founders' Assembly on Friday when the speeches, provided by Mr Billy Yarr, President of the BOIA  and Vice Chairman of our own Board of Governors and Vice Principal Mr. Allen McKinstry were enjoyed by the assembled pupils, staff and governors alike.
