Saturday 1st May 2010 (11:00 – 18:00) Since its foundation, ‘Inst’ has offered pupils the opportunity for personal development through participation in a wide range of sports. As a result, many Schoolboys and Instonians have represented teams at Provincial, National and International levels.
On 1st May 2010, as part of the 200 year celebration of RBAI, some of the most popular sports at the school will participate in a series of celebratory events, with School teams taking on a variety of opposition. This promises to be a wonderfully informal day when spectators and players can reminisce about the past and marvel at the present sports talent at RBAI.
The guest of honour will be Jack Kyle. Everyone is welcome and all attendees will be entered in a ballot. We would encourage you to contact old team-mates and opponents, as together you can relive glories – both real and imagined!
The Hockey match will start the day’s festivities at 11:00hrs and will be held at the School’s renowned hockey facilities at Shaw’s Bridge (the home of Instonians). The Rugby, Cricket and Tennis events will follow at 13:00hrs at Osborne.
There will be a marquee at Osborne serving food and refreshments throughout the afternoon. 2010 Commemorative Items will be on sale. After the matches, a ‘Sporting Toast’ will be held at Osborne, to conclude the day. Everyone - players, officials, coaches, teachers and most importantly spectators - are cordially invited to attend this event.
The Day’s Events
Before each event there will be a ‘curtain raiser’ match involving the boys from Inchmarlo and between this and each senior match, it is proposed that a ‘group photograph’ will be taken. These photos will include all players, coaches, officials and everyone else attending who would like to be included in the photo. It is hoped these photos will be made available for purchase as a memento for those attending the ‘2010 Celebrations’. |
