A select group of Year 13 boys fortunate enough to have secured a place on the unique Commerce Week work experience programme began the programme this morning with a breakfast meeting at Invest NI, Bedford Street. The boys continued on to a factory visit and presentation by Bombardier Aerospace and Engineering. Yr 13 student David Mitchell commented, “ The morning with Invest NI set the context for the week and the visit to Bombardier.” The third stop of the day for the boys was at East Belfast Visitors’ Centre where they enjoyed a presentation on the regeneration of East Belfast by the East Belfast Partnership followed by lunch. The day concluded with a visit to Sangers United.
Mr O’Neill, Head of Careers, found the first day of the experience invaluable; “Already, at the beginning of the week’s experience, students can understand the importance of transferable skills from the classroom to the workplace.”
The Principal explained that “ the week of work experiences is a great opportunity for boys to gain practical understanding of a wide range of industries which should ensure they make informed career decisions.”
The group began the week full of energy and enthusiasm
