RBAI were delighted to be short-listed as one of the top three best-performing secondary level schools in the whole of N. Ireland in terms of Accelerated Reader, the highly successful reading programme run by the school library and the English Department.
Renaissance Learning, the company behind the Accelerated Reader scheme, based their findings on independent research carried out by Dundee University, who measured the effect of the implementation of Accelerated Reader on student reader growth.
Pipped to the winning spot by Sullivan Upper School, it was nonetheless a huge accolade to have been short-listed in this inaugural Award in London, and is surely proof that boys do not necessarily lag behind their female peers when it comes to reading!
Many congratulations to all the junior school pupils for their continued participation in the Accelerated Reader programme and to parents for their support. Special congratulation to Mrs Lindsay (senior librarian) and Mrs McCord (Head of English and Drama) for their continued drive, determination and dedication to promote reading in the school. Let’s hope we can win the title overall next year!
