Our swimmers were in action on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th March with Captain Jack McMillan and his team defending the Bath Cup and Otter Cup in London.
On Thursday at St Paul’s School in Hammersmith, our boys finished 2nd in the Otter Challenge Match.
On Friday at the National Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Park, the Otter Cup team of Jack McMillan, Michael Hewitt, Pearse Ferguson and Thomas Hall finished in 4th place and our Bath Cup team of Jack McMillan, Michael Hewitt, Thomas Hall and Joshua Bradshaw finished in 5th place after an appeal.
Our boys all swam with the passion and determination that we have grown to expect, producing some personal best long course times in both the heats and the finals.
Our swimmers really did give their all for the school on Friday and to put their efforts in to perspective.
Jack McMillan swam his 100m freestyle leg of the Bath Cup final in 50.53seconds. In 1972 at the Munich Olympic Games, the American swimming sensation Mark Spitz won the men’s 100m freestyle gold medal in a time of 51.22seconds.
