Mr McMullan's Nomination Story

"I demonstrate selflessness in service to those in greatest need through my voluntary work for Habitat for Humanity and Make a Wish Charity. A main goal in my life is to continue to enjoy making a positive global and local contribution to improving vulnerable people's lives. As a young teacher I am passionate about enhancing the life chances of young people by raising their awareness of global, environmental and wider community issues. To date and as a school leader, I have participated in challenging, voluntary summer expeditions with my pupils to both Chile and Zambia to build homes, paint schools, lead a summer scheme and to teach Geography and English to children in these countries. My goal for summer 2012 is to support impoverished communities in Chinaand to continue to demonstrate selflessness by completing a 150 mile walk in aid of the Make a Wish Foundation."
