A Remarkable Institution

A Remarkable Institution, The Royal Belfast Academical Institution, 1810-2010 (in two volumes), by Brian Todd, was launched recently in the Inst’s Christ Church. Sir Peter Froggatt attended as the Guest of Honour. Instonians, staff and friends of the school also attended the event in support of Brian’s remarkable achievement. Brian Todd retired from teaching at Inst in 2011. However, he has been busy since then completing this huge piece of work. Volume 1 contains over five hundred brief biographies of notable Instonians and others associated with the School. Volume 2, Participation and Commitment, considers Inst's sports, clubs and societies over two centuries. Inst's sporting pedigree is well known, but some of the sports considered, such as lacrosse, are no longer played.
