Sports News

This Saturday, 22nd June, from 12pm to 3pm the RBAI Rowing Club, along with Methodist College Boat Club, will be hosting a joint “Race Day” where both Clubs will participate in some fun and entertaining racing to finish off their Rowing season.

You are warmly invited to come and join us at Lagan Scullers’ Club on Lockview Road from 12pm, where there will be food, drinks and lots of racing.

The proposed programme is as follows:

  • 12.00pm          Doors open
  • 12.10pm          Racing begins, with races every 10 minutes, from the Governor’s Bridge to Lagan Scullers’ Clubhouse.
  • 1.30pm           Junior 16 main race
  • 2.30pm           Senior VIII’s race
  • 3.00pm           Presentations

There will be a nominal fee of £5 at the door, with all proceeds being split evenly between both Clubs, and going directly towards furthering Rowing within both Schools.

The racing on the day will feature a healthy mixture of rowers, from beginners through to seniors, and should produce some close and exciting races.  Casual dress is expected, but please bear in mind that rowing is an outdoor sport and you should bring appropriate attire suitable for Northern Irish June weather!!

The Head Coaches from both Schools are very much looking forward to this opportunity for Ulster’s two most prominent sporting Schools to spend an afternoon together, enjoying some healthy rivalry on-the-water and some friendly conversation off-the-water.
