The Hockey Club welcomes Year 8 pupils

On Saturday 30th August 130 Year 8 pupils took to the water-based hockey pitch at Shaws Bridge to take part in one hour of coaching provided by the RBAI Hockey Club. The Hockey Club coaches took the pupils through a range of skills before the session ended with each player taking part in a number of games. The emphasis was very much on welcoming the pupils to the Hockey Club as well as allowing them an opportunity to get to know their peers a little bit better. The practice session was organised by Steven Redpath (the coach of the RBAI 1st XI) who was assisted by all the school coaches, including Greg Thompson : the latest addition to the Hockey Club staff. The Hockey Club would also like to thanks Instonians Hockey Club for providing a number of coaches to assist on Saturday morning : Paddy Brown and Paul Hollway (both past-Irish international hockey players who attended RBAI) passed on some of their knowledge to the boys along with Kenny Rutherford.
