Senior Squad at Clongowes tournament

The R.B.A.I senior team travelled to Clongowes Wood to compete in their bicentenary rugby tournament. It consisted of the best teams from all four provinces, plus a number of teams from Wales and England. We were very lucky to have a chance to play in this outstanding tournament, which really improved us as a team as a whole. On the Friday we played three 20 minute games against: Presentation Brothers Cork, which we won 12-5; St Marys, which we drew 12-12; Colegy Cymoedd College, which we narrowly lost 7-3 in a fantastic game; and Blackrock College which we lost 14-0, not to mention there was a number of key injuries during the game which proved to be costly, however the boys still played very well. Saturday morning came, the boys were raring to go against a strong Wallace High School team. We lost the match 5-0, however we still believe we left a number of points on the pitch which we were disappointed with, however there were many positives to take from the game. We then moved on to our East Belfast opposition which was Campbell College. The game was fought with real ambition and intensity with R.B.A.I coming out on top, 12-0. We were thrilled to get one over on our friends from down the road! Our last game was against Rockwell, with everyone tiring the youngsters had a turn to strut their stuff in the famous yellow and black. We went down points early but came back strong in the second half, however this was not enough as we narrowly lost the game 12-5. Overall, as captain I was very proud to lead the boys over the hard weekend of rugby against very tough opposition.
